THE COURTAULD INSTITUTE OF ART, RESEARCH FORUM
Andrew Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow
I came to London in 2015 after winning an international competition for the Andrew W Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Courtauld Institute of Art, where I played an active role in the Research Forum under new leadership. My contribution was to encourage a more public-facing direction for the Institute, to bring the significance of art history to wider audiences. This culminated in a major symposium on Art and Terrorism, with sequel at King’s College. I also chaired a panel for the Courtauld’s Museum Series, on the public role of museums, titled Politics over the Public, engaging artist Peter Kennard and museum directors.
My expertise in iconoclasm and violence over images, across histories and cultures, led to invited lectures in the US in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo shootings and presentations in London.
